Understand to act
QVCT: improving the conditions in which people work.
QVCT is the French term for quality of working life and working conditions. It describes a collective approach to improving work: management, employees and representatives discuss how work is carried out, test changes and assess their effects. It goes beyond wellbeing activities.

Keep work at the centre
Anact’s framework focuses QVCT on the concrete conditions of work: its content, organisation, cooperation and opportunities to speak and act. A social activity may contribute to team life, but cannot by itself resolve a lasting workload or coordination problem.
The approach seeks to connect occupational health with how the organisation operates. It is built with the people concerned, using observable problems and resources.
From discussion to experimentation
A space for discussing work needs a framework: which topics, participants and possible next steps? Proposals need someone to receive them and a follow-up process. Otherwise, concerns may be collected without a response.
Choose a specific situation: a difficult handover, competing priorities or cooperation that needs improvement.
Describe the constraints and resources of actual work with the team.
Test an improvement within a defined scope, with responsibilities and a timeline.
Review what changes collectively, adjust and decide the next steps.
How does QVCT relate to psychosocial risk prevention?
Both approaches concern workplace situations and opportunities for collective action. Psychosocial risk prevention addresses risk factors; QVCT provides a framework for discussing and improving working conditions. Connecting them helps link awareness to organisational decisions.
This relationship does not imply automatic results. The effects of an action must be assessed in context, with the people concerned and over time.
Where does Bernadette fit?
The Bernadette project aims to provide understanding through conversational learning sequences. HR and QVCT leads can consider it as an educational resource connected with workplace discussions and action.
It cannot replace employee participation or experiments with changes to work. Care & Fly publishes no results here demonstrating product effects on quality of working life.
Your questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between QVT and QVCT?
QVCT makes working conditions explicit in the French term. Anact’s framework centres the approach on work activity, participation and concrete improvements.
How can we avoid limiting the approach to wellbeing activities?
Start with a workplace situation identified by teams, allow for changes and organise follow-up on decisions.
What can HR teams monitor?
Participation, implementation of actions and observed changes in work. Training attendance alone does not establish improved working conditions.
